Q: If both partners have herpes 2 is it safe to have oral sex? If we decide not to continue using condoms can we infect other areas on our bodies?
-
Q: I posted this question on the HSV concerns section because I thought it might be of general interest and a reply there could benefit others. But I haven't received a reply so I'm asking here. :D What parts of my partner's body can I safely touch to avoid spreading HSV1? Touching and being touched is very important to me. I've resigned to the fact I should not give oral sex (but could receive it) and I'm not into anal activity. Because I have oral herpes, I would avoid any face contact, but would love to nuzzle and kiss my partner's back, neck, chest, etc -- can I do this with little-to-no risk? This site is a great resource and I did search on the word "safe", read all the posts it turned up, but didn't see my question covered.

-
Q: I can't thank you enough for your assistance and time. Just the thought of trying something nature makes me feel better. I will go out and buy it tomorrow.

Q: Ok - so I am getting pretty tired of getting a Rx for just a short outbreak; then it expires, only to have a more vigorous outbreak (sometimes several months later) occur. Then I have to get a whole new Rx. Is there anywhere I can go just to get the meds that I need without all this hassle?

Q: How should I go about telling someone I'm dating my status? How do I start the conversation? Also, where are other support groups for STD's?
-
Q: I would like to know if I have intercourse with a male who also has herpes; can I contract a different strain of the virus and start to have more frequent outbreaks? I currently have outbreaks twice a year.

Q: I have herpes and have been taking acylcovira, i was on that because I didn’t have insurance and was able to get it cheap. Now i have insurance through my new job is Valtrex much more effective?
-
Q: When I was diagnosed with herpes - genital type, my Ex claimed that he had shingles, not herpes. Is it possible for an individual with shingles to infect another person with herpes? I believe this explanation was a lie and a cop-out.

Q: Hi I’m was just wondering do all genital herpes outbreaks have the fluid filled blisters at first or can they be different? What is the process of the blister? None of mine look like the pics on the internet and I haven’t had a blood test. Doctor did a physical exam just by eye

Q: If I wear a condom can I spread my herpes to another who does not have it?
-
Q: I have HSV-2, diagnosed last June, and since the primary have been experiencing at least 1 and sometimes 2-3 outbreaks every month. I take Valtrex 500mg daily and have also tried Famvir, but they do not seem to prevent outbreaks. My ob/gyn is baffled as most people respond to Valtrex. Right now I am not taking anything, expecting my next outbreak to be worse but then hoping maybe for viral burnout. Any suggestions or advice would be great, thank you!

Q: I read some things online that says that if you have an HSV1 infection and you give your partner oral sex, you could pass on the herpes infection but as HSV2, not 1. Are they different viruses or are they the same, and it just depends where your outbreaks are. I am confused.

Q: I have tested positive for HSV 1 and 2, but never get cold sores on my mouth. I've met someone here online that has HSV 2 only. I have 2 questions: 1) Is it true that if we both have HSV 2 then we don't need to worry about it. For example, there aren't different strains of HSV 2 are there? 2. I tested positive for 1 and 2 using a blood test some years ago. Would be at risk for getting HSV 1 or sores the HSV 2 offer him immunity to HSV1?
